About the Role & Opportunity

Cathcart Technology is partnering with a leading organisation that is building out the cloud platform behind its corporate AI and big data programme. They are now looking for a Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps Engineer to take ownership of that environment end to end.

This is a hands-on architecture role covering cloud design, network security and MLOps: you will design the Azure foundation that AI workloads run on, stand up the pipelines that move models from staging into production, and keep high-performance AI compute clusters secure, resilient and cost-efficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and building cloud-native, secure and scalable infrastructure on Azure for AI model processing, deep learning platforms and AI-driven applications
  • Implementing enterprise-grade network security, including Azure Landing Zone (Hub-Spoke) design and firewall policy management across Azure Firewall, NSG and Route Tables
  • Building and maintaining end-to-end MLOps workflows, covering model lifecycle management, model tracking and production deployment using MLflow or Azure Machine Learning
  • Managing and optimising autoscaling for AI compute worker nodes so that large-scale workloads run without performance degradation
  • Developing Infrastructure as Code in Terraform and automating API-triggered CI/CD pipelines that dynamically provision compute for AI workloads
  • Migrating legacy AI workloads into secure enterprise network zones aligned to corporate IT security standards
  • Governing identity, access control and security compliance (Microsoft Entra ID, Managed Identity) for internal and external API integrations with AI endpoints
  • Monitoring and optimising cloud spend, producing financial reporting and managing resource budgeting for AI workloads

What they're looking for

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience across Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps, including at least 2 years in AI infrastructure or MLOps
  • Strong working knowledge of the Azure AI ecosystem: Azure ML, Azure OpenAI, Data Factory, Container Apps and serverless architectures
  • Practical experience with MLflow and Docker for containerising and orchestrating machine learning models
  • IaC skills in Terraform, along with experience building automation pipelines in Azure DevOps or Jenkins
  • Knowledge of data architecture, SQL/NoSQL database management and integration layers such as REST APIs and GraphQL
  • Familiarity with core cloud networking and security concepts
  • Strong Python skills, which are essential in an AI/ML environment
