What Level of IT Talent Is Most in Demand in 2026?

One of the clearest trends from our 2026 hiring data is where demand is concentrated.

Across our 2026 hiring data, Mid-Level and Senior professionals represented 69% of total demand.

Mid-Level hiring was the strongest category, followed by Senior positions, showing that employers continue to prioritise experienced professionals who can step in and contribute quickly.

By comparison, Junior hiring remained relatively limited throughout the year.

This reflects what we continue to hear from clients across the market: businesses are looking for people who can work with greater independence, solve complex problems, and bring proven experience into increasingly demanding technology environments.

Leadership hiring remains important, but the strongest volume of demand is clearly sitting with experienced individual contributors and senior specialists.

For technology professionals, technical capability is still essential, but employers are increasingly looking for more than technical skills alone. Strong communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving and the ability to deliver results are becoming just as important.

For employers, competition for experienced technology talent remains strong — particularly for professionals who can add value from day one.
