Thailand’s IT Hiring Mix Is Changing: What Our Placement Data Shows

The technology hiring market in Thailand is not standing still. Looking across 352 placements, our data shows a clear shift in the types of technology professionals organisations are hiring.

Software Engineering remains our largest placement area, but its share has moved from 31% in 2024 and 32% in 2025 to 24% in 2026. At the same time, several areas connected to operating, integrating and scaling technology have grown significantly.

Infrastructure & DevOps has increased from 12% of placements in 2024 to 20% in 2026, while ERP & Enterprise Applications has risen from 10% to 16%. Data & AI has also continued to grow, increasing from 6% to 10% over the same period.

Perhaps the clearest comparison is Software Engineering and QA & Testing combined. Developers and testers represented around 40% of our placements in 2024. In 2026, that figure is 25%.

That does not mean organisations have stopped investing in software development. Instead, our placement data suggests that the hiring mix is becoming broader.

Companies are still building technology, but they are also putting greater focus on the professionals who can run infrastructure, manage cloud environments, implement enterprise platforms, deliver transformation programmes and turn data and AI into practical business capabilities.

Other areas have remained comparatively consistent. Delivery & Leadership represents 12% of placements in 2026, while Sales & Presales also accounts for 12%. Security currently represents 5%.

For employers, this changing mix is another reminder that technology teams increasingly require expertise across the full technology lifecycle. Building the product is only part of the challenge; businesses also need the people who can integrate, operate, improve and scale it.

For technology professionals, it highlights where opportunities are developing. Skills across cloud, DevOps, ERP, enterprise applications, data and AI are becoming an increasingly visible part of the hiring activity we see.

These figures reflect Cathcart Technology Thailand’s own placement data, rather than the entire Thai technology market, but they give us a useful view of how the briefs coming from our clients are evolving.
