About the Company & Opportunity

Cathcart Technology is partnering with a growing technology organisation to appoint a Senior DevOps / Cloud Engineer into a hands-on, high-ownership role. This is an opportunity to design, build, and maintain production-grade cloud infrastructure that is stable, secure, and built to scale — supporting systems from MVP through to full production.

Working closely with backend developers, the tech lead, and the product team, you'll play a central role in keeping systems reliable and secure while enabling fast, confident deployments. The team values automation, reliability, and ownership over hierarchy, trusts its engineers, and focuses on outcomes rather than hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, maintain, and improve cloud infrastructure for scalability, high availability, and fault tolerance
  • Build and manage CI/CD pipelines to support safe, efficient deployments
  • Manage container and container orchestration environments
  • Own monitoring, logging, and alerting across the platform
  • Maintain system security, including access control, secrets management, and networking
  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis for production issues
  • Collaborate with backend and frontend teams to support ongoing development
  • Help define and embed DevOps and cloud best practices across the team

Required Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud, or Infrastructure roles
  • Hands-on experience managing production systems on the cloud (AWS or GCP)
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture and distributed systems
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (or equivalent)
  • Solid grasp of CI/CD pipelines and automation (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins)
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
  • Monitoring and logging experience (Prometheus / Grafana, ELK, or cloud-native tooling)
  • Knowledge of security, networking, and access control fundamentals
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle incidents under pressure
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to use English effectively in a working environment
