AI and the Future of IT Roles – Insights from Cathcart Technology

Cathcart Technology’s latest findings reveal that nearly half of companies have already integrated AI into their workflows or used it to replace certain job roles. This data, based on a survey of 524 HR and talent acquisition professionals, highlights how AI is rapidly moving from experimental to essential in modern business operations.
An additional 33.02% of respondents say their companies may adopt AI in the future, while just 19.47% have not yet taken steps toward implementation. These numbers underscore a clear industry trend. AI is becoming a core part of operational strategy for a growing number of organisations.
When asked about the future of IT roles, 37.6% of companies believe AI will significantly reshape job functions within 5 years. However, 32.6% disagree, and 29.8% remain uncertain. This points to a divide in how the impact of AI on tech roles is perceived.
As AI adoption accelerates, organisations must not only embrace new tools but also prepare their workforce for change. Balancing automation with human expertise will be critical, particularly in tech functions where adaptability is key.
Cathcart Technology continues to monitor the evolving relationship between AI and the workforce. Our mission is to support companies and tech professionals in navigating this shift with confidence.
