Hybrid Work Takes the Lead Among Tech Professionals in 2025
According to Cathcart Technology’s latest IT Salary Guide 2025, hybrid work models have clearly emerged as the preferred choice for tech professionals. From the survey, a combined 61% favour some form of hybrid working arrangement, surpassing the 35% who prefer fully on-site roles and far exceeding the 4% who wish to work entirely remotely.
The most popular hybrid setup is a 2/3 split, with two days on-site and three days working from home, preferred by 31% of respondents. This model offers a balance between collaboration and flexibility, aligning with how modern tech professionals structure their productivity.
Other hybrid models also gained traction, with 16% opting for a 3/2 schedule and 14% favouring a 1/4 mix. This strong interest in flexible work signals a shift in expectations, particularly in roles that do not require physical presence to maintain performance or team cohesion.
Interestingly, only a small minority, just 4%, desire to work fully remotely. Despite the widespread adoption of remote work during the pandemic, the data suggests most tech professionals now seek a middle ground rather than a complete shift away from the office.
Employers aiming to attract and retain top talent in 2025 should take note. A single working policy may no longer meet workforce expectations. Offering structured hybrid options not only supports employee satisfaction but also fosters long-term engagement and productivity.
At Cathcart Technology, we continue to listen closely to what tech professionals want. A successful match between talent and opportunity starts with understanding what truly matters.
